Quick Guide for Getting to and into the Iowa State Fair

Dates for the Iowa State Fair 2022: Thursday, August 11 through Sunday, August 21

Fair hours:

  • Grounds – 8 a.m. to midnight*No entry or re-entry after 9:00 p.m. on the last Sunday.
  • Buildings – 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.;
  • Thrill Parks ($$$) – Thrill Ville: 10 a.m. to Midnight, Thrill Town: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Thrill Zone: 10 a.m. to Midnight

Admission Prices: (Tickets are for sale at the gates.)

  • Adults (12 and up): $14
  • Kids (Ages 6-11): $8
  • Little Kids (Ages 5 & under): Free

Special Savings for Extreme Sunday: $10 for adults and $6 for kids ages 6-11 or with a donation of 3 cans of non-perishable food for the Food Bank of Iowa (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) – $7 for (12 & up).

Parking:

Parking is available at the Fairgrounds on a first come, first served basis at the North, Northeast, and University Lots only. It is $10.

  • Motorcycles can park in any lot. But the North lot has a designated area, especially for motorcycles.
  • Bicycle parking is available for free at Gate 11.

 Shuttle: The Fair encourages people to take the DART Park & Ride option.

  • Center Street Park & Ride – 7th and Center Street; enter on 7th Street
  • Southeast Polk High School – N.E. 80th Street and Highway 163
  • Iowa State Capitol – on East 12th Street, east side of the Capitol building

Round-trip fares are cash only. All buses are wheelchair accessible.

$2 adults (ages 11-64); $1 children ages 6-10; adults (65+); Children 5 and younger are free

Parking is free at all DART locations from 8:30 a.m. to midnight every day of the Fair. Fairgoers will be dropped off and picked up at the DART Transit Hub at Gate 10 on the Fairgrounds.
