The move still blows me away…
Last week, the Kansas City Chiefs added Left Tackle Orlando Brown to their already loaded roster. The Baltimore Ravens sent Brown to KC (AND a 2nd round pick for some reason), for a decent haul of picks.
I can’t for the life of me figure out why in the world the Baltimore Ravens are actively trying to help Patrick Mahomes win the Superbowl. The dude is the best QB in the NFL & his team was the favorite to win BEFORE the trade. KC has added G Joe Thuney (via free agency from the Bills) & Kyle Long (out of retirement) and now ORLANDO FREAKING BROWN to their offensive line that was all saw get destroyed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in February.
Now before you tell me about the “long game” here for the Ravens (who have a better option at LT in Ronnie Stanley)….I live in the reality that the NFL is a short term league. Who KNOWS what’s gonna happen in the next 2 years. Sure, Baltimore may add a WR in the draft this week but unless that guy is 2021’s Justin Jefferson, he’s 1-2 years away from being THE MAN opposite Hollywood Brown & Mark Andrews. Keep your tackles in tact. (NOTE: if by the time you read this, Julio Jones has been dealt to Baltimore, then all bets are off) Protect your QB who needs all the help he can get when throwing from inside the pocket. Worry about paying Brown when you NEED to. And stop helping the best team in the AFC get better.
My full thoughts on the trade from last week’s “Wickett’s World” start 18 minutes in with my conversation w/ ArrowheadPride.com’s Pete Sweeney and then JD & I look at it from the Ravens perspective:
