A pair of Iowa Hawkeyes were taken in Thursday’s NBA Draft!
Shooting Guard, Joe Wieskamp was moving up & down mock draft boards all week and was taken 41st overall by the San Antonio Spurs. Wieskamp is the highest drafted Hawkeye since Ricky Davis went 21st in 1998 and should find himself in a good spot to make the Spurs rotation. The NBA ALWAYS needs shooters.
11 picks later, the Detroit Pistons selected Luka Garza at 52. Garza will join the 1st overall pick, Cade Cunningham and former Hawkeye, Tyler Cook in Detroit. The All-American has dropped a TON of weight and wants to prove doubters wrong, AGAIN. Dude has the motor to stick in the NBA for a while. Can he make an impact for the Pistons who are young & ready to battle for playoff contention? Maybe.
